The Week That Was and Is To Come
March 23, 2010
On Friday I taped a podcast to be posted on the website, “Homebrewed Christianity.” Looking forward to having this one “live” and soon. Then I did two addresses at LA Congress, and spent a good amount of time hanging out with the HarperOne team at the booth in the Exhibit Hall. HarperOne is a class act and the team was just as gracious late in the evening as they were “on the floor.” Had a chance to do some personal bantering with James Martin, S.J. whose new book has also been published by Harper. He is a genuine and funny gentleman. He kept me laughing as we signed books side by side.
While at Congress, I contracted with “Now You Know Media” to produce an audio course on the Gospel of Matthew through the lens of Quadratos. The course will be recorded in early June for distribution late summer. For any who are looking for materials on Matthew – the gospel for the church year we begin next Advent – know this course will be available for your Fall studies. And it will be followed with three more courses- one on each gospel- in the Quadratos sequence.
Turning to this week – this one is about rest. I am taking a week of quiet reflection to emotionally prepare myself to lead the Easter Triduum retreat at La Casa de Maria Retreat in Santa Barbara. If you want to experience transformational liturgy, and some of the most ancient rituals in Christendom – as well as celebrate Easter in a new cosmology – join us.
Finally, this week, www.ReadtheSpirit.com is featuring “The Hidden Power of the Gospels” and an interview with me conducted a few weeks ago when I was in Denver. An excerpt from the book was posted yesterday (March 22nd). The interview with appear tomorrow (March24). David Crumm is a well respected journalist. I have not seen the text of the interview. But his questions were insightful and distinct. Let me know what you think after you read it.
Read the Spirit is a quality web magazine about wise and compassionate spirituality with and across faith traditions. Check it out. You will not be disappointed.
