We just concluded a week (called Experiencing the Foundational Pattern) with 20 pastors and spiritual leaders held at Zephyr Pt. Conference Center on Lake Tahoe. Wow. Did you feel the earth move? Twenty individuals deeply moved by a vision of “the great gospel in four chapters.” Words spoken by pastors were “life changing”, ”always knew there had to be more” and one of my favorites … “sitting with Jesus, looking at Christ.” Stay tuned for more reports on this transformative week.

Now You Know Media – a company that was started by a former exec from The Learning Company – will release an audio course of mine in late July. It is eighteen talks, each about 25 minutes. Title: The Four-Gospel Journey as Guide to the Spiritual Life. This will be a sound introduction to the practical aspects of “quadratos” and the Harper book, and a useful addition for Study Groups. Those who have already heard samples from it are most enthused.

As soon as we have ordering information, we post here and at www.quadratos.com

Every greeting on this Summer Solstice -

I am writing from the train on my way into San Francisco to the deliver the Saturday keynote for the 20th Anniversary Conference of Spiritual Directors International.

What a week! The Washington Post review sent the book soaring in sales. Now I hope individuals and communities will begin to seriously read and form Study Groups around this material. Over and over we hear that the best way to integrate this shift on the gospels is by forming groups that come together to discuss and share and study. Yes, there is a Study Guide for the entire book. See “store” on www.quadratos.com

This coming Sunday – April 11th – I will appear for an hour interview on the show “God Talk” - 7 and 8 a.m. on KGO radio in San Francisco. Thirty minutes later I will be on KRON tv for about a 15 minute interview about the book. Harper is providing me a “media escort” to get from one station to the next in short order.

Have an early cup of coffee and tune in. I understand that the God Talk show usually provides an depth interview. I am looking forward. Tune in. Call in your questions. Thanks.

It is late in the day on Thursday here at La Casa de Maria in Santa Barbara. Now we are only hours from the great Feast of Easter. Over this long 72 hour day – we here at La Casa will be away from cell and internet. So I want to take this moment to wish each and all a Glorious Participation in Resurrection. And by whichever form of Easter you pray – let us join together with one heart:

May We Know that We are One.
May We Know that All are One.
May We Know We are Sent to Be the Message.

Jesus the Christ is Risen. Death is No More.

Just learned that the Washington Post is set to review my book, appearing in the Easter Sunday edition – April 4th.

All of you are likely to see/read the review before I do. I am leading the Ecumenical Easter Triduum Retreat (fourth year) at La Casa de Maria Retreat in Santa Barbara. The retreat ends just before noon on Easter Sunday - and that is Pacific time!

Stay tuned. We will have a report on the review as soon as the review is available. In the meantime, David Crumm posted an incredible interview and review of the book this week on: www.ReadtheSpirit.com Take a look. You will not be sorry. This is unlike anything else written to date.

On Friday I taped a podcast to be posted on the website, “Homebrewed Christianity.” Looking forward to having this one “live” and soon. Then I did two addresses at LA Congress, and spent a good amount of time hanging out with the HarperOne team at the booth in the Exhibit Hall. HarperOne is a class act and the team was just as gracious late in the evening as they were “on the floor.” Had a chance to do some personal bantering with James Martin, S.J. whose new book has also been published by Harper. He is a genuine and funny gentleman. He kept me laughing as we signed books side by side.

While at Congress, I contracted with “Now You Know Media” to produce an audio course on the Gospel of Matthew through the lens of Quadratos. The course will be recorded in early June for distribution late summer. For any who are looking for materials on Matthew – the gospel for the church year we begin next Advent – know this course will be available for your Fall studies. And it will be followed with three more courses- one on each gospel- in the Quadratos sequence.

Turning to this week – this one is about rest. I am taking a week of quiet reflection to emotionally prepare myself to lead the Easter Triduum retreat at La Casa de Maria Retreat in Santa Barbara. If you want to experience transformational liturgy, and some of the most ancient rituals in Christendom – as well as celebrate Easter in a new cosmology – join us.

Finally, this week, www.ReadtheSpirit.com is featuring “The Hidden Power of the Gospels” and an interview with me conducted a few weeks ago when I was in Denver. An excerpt from the book was posted yesterday (March 22nd). The interview with appear tomorrow (March24). David Crumm is a well respected journalist. I have not seen the text of the interview. But his questions were insightful and distinct. Let me know what you think after you read it.

Read the Spirit is a quality web magazine about wise and compassionate spirituality with and across faith traditions. Check it out. You will not be disappointed.
